Deb Cody takes legislature seat vacated by Kathy Rapp

SALINA (WSYR-TV) - The Onondaga County Executive has appointed Deb Cody to assume the vacant legislature seat in the 5th district.

The seat was left open when long-time legislator Kathy Rapp took Onondaga County's retirement buy-out offer.

Cody works for State Senator John DeFrancisco as his constituent services director. She lives in the town of Salina.

County Executive Joanie Mahoney says, "Deb Cody has a tremendous record serving the community. She will bring a valuable perspective to the Legislature and I am pleased that she accepted my offer to serve.”

Cody says, "I am grateful to County Executive Mahoney for this opportunity to further serve my community. I look forward to working with the County Executive and my fellow legislators in addressing the issues we are facing and building upon the progress being made in Onondaga County.”

Onondaga County Legislature Chairman Ryan McMahon says, “The commitment Deb Cody has
made to constituent service is admirable and will serve her well as the next legislator from the 5th
District. Deb will undoubtedly be a strong and vocal advocate for her constituents.”

The 5th district includes parts of the City of Syracuse, the Town of Salina, the Town of DeWitt and the Town of Cicero.
