TYRE, SENECA COUNTY N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - One of three Upstate New York casinos okayed by Albany late last year is well on its way to opening.
del Lago Resort and Casino, sits right off Thruway Exit 41, half way between Syracuse and Rochester.
The main venue will feature gaming, restaurants and a 2,500 seat concert and event center. It should be open in February 2017.
Also under construction is a 205 room hotel, complete with a 10,000 square foot spa. It’s set to open in the Fall of 2017.
del Lago Executive Vice President and General Manager Jeff Babinski tells NewsChannel 9, "When you think of the lakes it’s going to have an Italian feel and incorporate everything this region has to offer and it’s going to look amazing."
The casino will feature about 2,000 slot machines, 85 table games, a poker room., two restaurants and a buffet.
Babinski says the plan is to have shows and events at ‘The Vine’ on a regular basis.
Also a feature of del Lago will a section called ‘Savor New York' featuring local wines, breweries, cheeses and some other local vendors.
The $440-million project will put 1,800 people to work, not including the close to 1,800 construction workers when the job is complete.
