Deputies: Bodies found in a submerged vehicle ID'd as missing Perinton couple

CHARLOTTE, NY (WROC) - Deputies have positively identified the bodies found in a submerged vehicle in the river as Robert and Mary Ross -- the Perinton couple reported missing last week.

Family members have been notified, deputies say.

The circumstances that put the vehicle into the water are not yet known. In a statement, deputies say, "The Monroe County Sheriff's Office offers its condolences to the family of Robert and Mary Ross."

Deputies say the vehicle is a Kia Sorrento with vanity license plate matching the missing couple's vehicle.

The car was recovered on Thursday from the Genesee River.

Robert and Mary Ross were reported missing last week after Robert missed appointments for cancer treatment.
