Deputies: Cortland man who tried to run is charged with felony DWI

50-year-old Daniel Henry is being held without bail

CORTLAND (WSYR-TV) - A Cortland man is being held without bail after deputies say he tried to outrun them on a motorcycle Saturday night on Route 13.

50-year-old Daniel Henry is accused of speeding up when officers tried to pull him over, at times reaching speeds of 25 miles-per-hour over the posted limits.

Eventually, officers say he tried to run after dumping his motorcycle on Ames Road in the Town of Cortlandville.

When Henry was caught, he was charged with felony DWI and unlawful fleeing a police officer.

Other violations include speeding, passing a red signal light, and failing to stop for stop signs as well as failing to signal turns, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Deputies say Henry was charged with felony DWI because they found a previous driving while intoxicated conviction in his past.

Henry is scheduled to return to Cortland City Court Monday at 9:00 a.m.
