Cops: Viewer tips led to fugitive wanted for arson, sex crimes

HOMER, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A man wanted for a host of crimes in the city of Syracuse and beyond was arrested in Homer this morning with the help of tips from NewsChannel 9 viewers.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says help from the public led them to an address in Homer around 6:20 a.m., where they found 20-year-old Jordan Palerino-Pierce.

The Sheriff’s Office said Palerino-Pierce should be considered armed and “very dangerous.”

Palerino-Pierce reportedly had contact with police 35 times over the last 11 years.

He is accused of intentionally setting fire to mattresses on the porch of a Milton Avenue home while seven people were inside.

The incident occurred on July 6, 2017, and the landlord of the residence has reportedly had issues with Palerino-Pierce in the past.

Palerino-Pierce was also wanted for grand larceny for allegedly stealing a vehicle, sexual misconduct for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old, and a probation violation that stems from a stabbing on the North Side.

In addition to the charges he’s wanted for, he’s also been involved in domestic violence, fighting, criminal mischief, burglary, robbery and assault.

Deputies say he has anger issues and has threatened to kill police officers on several occasions.
