Developer envisions bigger project than code allows at old Le Moyne Manor site

Longley Jones would like to build 90 apartments on Old Liverpool Road

TOWN OF SALINA (WSYR-TV) - Plans to build new apartments at the old Le Moyne Manor site on Old Liverpool Road may hit a snag as the town of Salina considers a zoning change.

Monday night, developer Longley Jones shared a bigger vision for the project.

Up to 90 apartments are on their wish list. But, the current code would only allow 45 units.

In order to move forward with any construction, the Director of Development for Longley Jones says a zoning change is a critical first step.

"We're purchasing the property. We're under contract and it's all really based on approvals. So, once we get through this process, we'll see kind of where we end up and and it will be based on that," said Scott Dumas.

The Town Board wants a closer look at the size and scope of both plans before voting on a zoning change.

The larger scale, 90-unit project, would also require multiple variances down the road.

During a public hearing Monday, one person in the audience expressed concerns about traffic. The public hearing continues at the next Town Board meeting on March 12 at 6:33 p.m.
