Did Spectrum raise cable rates?: Your Stories

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - An emailer wrote the Your Stories team, asking about Spectrum Cable rates, now that the company took over for Time Warner Cable in Central New York.

Virginia writes on behalf of friends of her who volunteer at a Cortland hospital with her.

She writes: "The first bill they got from Spectrum was $25 - $40 more than what they had been paying with TWC and many said they would be getting fewer channels at a higher cost which they can not afford."

NewsChannel 9 reached out to Spectrum Cable. They say, "We haven’t made any changes to prices since launching Spectrum. If existing TWC customers are seeing changes it’s because their promotional pricing expired and reverted to the regular price. This is nothing new. It happens every day.”

When existing customers’ promotional pricing expires, they can switch to a Spectrum package or keep their TWC package, at the regular price.  We believe many customers will find that Spectrum packages are a better value and competitively priced."
