Do Not Call Registry won't block all unwanted calls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Even if you are on the National Do Not Call Registry, you may still see unwanted calls.

The Federal Trade Commission says that registry only prohibits "sales" calls. That means political messages, charitable calls, and informational calls can all still ring through to your phone.

Any businesses that you have recently worked with can also call you.

However, you can request that the company not call you again-- a request that must be honored.

The FTC recommends recording the date on which you asked not to be called again.

As for illegal robocalls, the FTC says technology is making those tougher to track. Therefore, if you receive an illegal robocall, don't interact with it. Simply hang up and file a complaint with the FTC.

These rules can be found here on their website.
