Empty Bowls fundraiser benefits local food pantry

Students selling artwork to help fight hunger

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Students at East Syracuse Minoa High School are working to fight hunger in Central New York.

They've created hundreds of hand-made ceramic bowls and they're selling them to benefit the local food pantry.

This is the 8th Empty Bowls fundraiser at ESM. Empty Bowls is an international, grassroots movement working towards ending hunger.

Students say they enjoy participating in Empty Bowls because they've learned how community service can benefit everyone involved.

The event at ESM is Wednesday, March 1st from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the ESM High School large cafeteria.

There is a minimum $2 donation to get in the door. The fee includes a small dinner.

Price tags on the bowls start at $5. Larger bowls will be included in a silent auction.
