Expect heavy traffic delays on W. Seneca Turnpike in the Valley starting Monday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Signs have been posted on West Seneca Turnpike in the Valley area of Syracuse alerting drivers of upcoming construction projects, which could cause delays.

Starting on Monday, April 10, construction will begin on the Turnpike, between South Salina Street and West Seneca Place.

Crews will be milling and paving Seneca Turnpike from Hopper Road to South Salina Street.

Sidewalks will be installed and curbing will be replaced where needed.

New pedestrian and traffic signals will be installed to improve traffic conditions in the corridor. Tree plantings will also be done to aide in preventing excess storm water runoff.

Construction runs until October.

Two-way traffic will be maintained whenever possible and electronic message boards have been installed at each end of the project to inform drivers of ongoing traffic conditions.

Drivers are encouraged to plan extra time when travelling this area.
