SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Carrie Lazarus’ latest Extraordinary Talent of the Week features not one, but two young jazz artists from Westhill High School.
Dan Robinson and Nick Colella came from Syracuse music royalty— Nick’s grandfather was Stan Colella and Dan’s grandpa is SAMMY Award winner Art Robins.
Nick was just 2-years-old when Stan died, but music keeps him close— he even uses his grandpa’s trumpet.
Dan and Nick connected through jazz, drawn to the spontaneity and the unpredictability of the music.
They are heading off to college this fall— Dan is not studying music, but he’ll keep playing, and Nick plans to major in business.
If you'd like to help young artists afford lessons, instruments and other opportunities, please consider a donation to Carrie’s fund for Extraordinary Talent.
