SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Family and neighbors gathered on the 100 block of Hartson Street to remember the life of 8-year-old shooting victim, Shaleek Carrears.
The Onondaga County District Attorney tells NewsChannel 9 that Shaleek's 10-year-old brother accidentally shot and killed his younger brother around 2:40 a.m. Monday.
The DA has called the shooting an accident, but his office is looking into possible charges against both the 10-year-old and the boys' parents.
Shaleek was an incoming second-grader at Porter Elementary in the Syracuse City School District.
His mother, father and neighbors met with NewsChannel 9 to share the memory of a boy who loved to dance and touched the hearts of everyone he met.
