Federal funds will help fight homelessness in Central New York

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Central New York is receiving more than $10 million to end homelessness. 

The money is part of $60 million in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development designated to end homelessness. 

38 organizations across upstate that promote the goal of ending homelessness will receive thousands of dollars each. 

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand made the announcement Thursday, saying "One homeless family is one too many, and we must do everything we can to help provide those truly in need with a place to live.”
