Sheriff's Office: Wolf Street dealership destroyed by fire

SALINA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A business on Wolf Street has been deemed a “total loss” after what the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office describes as a “massive fire.”

Firefighters and law enforcement responded to the scene in the 1200 block near the corner of 7th North Street in the town of Salina around 9:10 p.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, firefighters encountered flames erupting from the roof of Hot Rides Auto Sales.

The owner of Hot Rides Auto Sales told Sheriff’s Deputies that furnace work had recently been completed at the facility.

In addition to the building, several vehicles were destroyed in the fire.

Fire crews told NewsChannel 9 that the cold temperatures and the wind hampered their efforts in getting the flames under control.

Crews from between seven and nine departments responded to the scene. At one point they had to reposition their trucks to help in their efforts.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Air-1  provided lighting for the crews, and also checked the surrounding area for hazards.

There are no reports of any injuries during the fire overnight.

Crews returned to the scene early Friday morning when the fire rekindled.

Wolf Street was closed between 7th North Street and Evelyn Terrace for several hours.

Dispatchers believe the roadway has since re-opened.
