SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A former part-time aide at All Saints Elementary is facing 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to a 12-count indictment regarding child pornography.
23-year-old Emily Oberst was arrested in March 2016 after the FBI investigated her and a Liverpool man who produced and distributed child porn.
She was fired from her position at All Saints upon her arrest.
The abuse began in November 2014 when the first victim was just two days old. Oberst admits to taking lewd pictures of the girl and sending them to accomplice Jason Kopp.
It happened again two days later, three days later and then that third night Oberst and Kopp were together to engage in sexually explicit conduct with the infant.
Abuse of the infant took place until the girl was 18-months old.
US Attorney for the Northern District of New York Richard Hartunian says, "I think its fair to say that the entirety of this case is so distressing and disturbing that it rises to the level among the worst kind of conduct we've seen over the course of our careers, no question about it."
Assistant US Attorney for the Northern District of New York Lisa Fletcher says, “The evidence is so overwhelming that a trial really wasn't in the cards for her, it was how do we best resolve this case for everybody concerned and this is what we came up with."
Oberst agreed to a 60-year prison term in court on Tuesday as a part of her plea.
She will be sentenced in August.
Kopp was sentenced in September to 235 years in prison for sexually exploiting at least eight children over the course of 16 years.
