Former CNYSPCA executive director files lawsuit against the organization's board

DEWITT, N.Y. (WESYR-TV) - The former executive director of the CNYSPCA Kerrin Conklin has filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court over her firing back in May.

Conklin is not suing the SPCA, but rather the SPCA board and a local veterinarian.

She accuses both of defaming her.

Conklin said she was notified of her termination by an unexpected phone call.

Board member Jack Yoffa said in May that Conklin was fired before the phone call, but she left a meeting early and that is why she did not know she had been fired.

Conklin has filed an 143-page complaint.

She cites instances of the board issuing statements to the media, which she claims are false.

Conklin is seeking $4.15 million in damages for actual financial harm, infliction of emotional pain, damage to reputation and breach of contract.
