REMSEN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Neighbors in Oneida County were excited to officially welcome home Olympic athlete Erin Hamlin.
American flags waved overhead in Remsen Saturday night as crowds of friends, family, and fans gathered to celebrate the return of their hometown hero.
A parade brought the four-time Olympian back to her alma mater where it all began.
"It's always so amazing to come home and be able to feel the community support," Hamlin said. "I always know it's there when I'm gone but to be able to share the excitement and see everybody, a lot of familiar faces, it's so exciting but it's always nice to come home."
Now that her Olympic career has come to an end, Hamlin is looking forward to spending time at home but, she's keeping her options open.
She may not have earned a medal in this year's Olympics, but she certainly struck gold in the hearts of Remsen and around the U.S.
