Helping Hounds welcomes dozens of dogs looking for homes

19 animals were rescused from a suspected hoarder in Texas

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - More than a dozen dogs land in Central New York after being pulled from what rescuers are calling a dangerous hoarding situation on the other side of the country.

The animals joined a truckload of other pets dropped off this weekend, hoping to trade in cages for some love and care.

"The transport that we just brought in from Texas contained nineteen dogs that had come from a very bad hoarding situation and we were able to play an integral part in the rescue," said Erin Zacholl with Helping Hounds.

Within just one day - most of the dogs from Texas were adopted and immediately sent to new homes.

Many others animals are still waiting for new families.

All of the dogs at helping hounds are rescued from poor living conditions and overcrowded shelters.
