Fulton, NY (WSYR-TV) - Part of the old Nestle plant has officially been sold to Aldi, so construction is now underway.
"We've closed the deal with Aldi, the sale went through, their contractor as we speak is on that site preparing it for building," said Mayor Ron Woodward, R-City of Fulton.
Woodward says the company paid $350,000 for two acres of the property, but there's a way to go before it'll be ready for opening day.
But it's not just Aldi contractors on the property, the city has its own working to cleanup the southern part of the site; they're cleaning up so more businesses can eventually move in.
"At the end of the day, we want to continue to fill that site up, now that leaves us 22 acres left to develop," said Woodward.
The opening day for the project was initially supposed to be in the fall, it's been pushed back to December.
