Howard Johnson's demolition in Carrier Circle underway

Longstanding DeWitt eyesore finally coming down

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Demolition of a longstanding eyesore in DeWitt began Friday morning.
The former Howard Johnson's Hotel along Carrier Circle is finally being torn down.
Crisafulli Trucking Inc. of Warners is performing the work, which is expected to cost around $500,000.
The demolition will be paid for by the site developer, the Chase Hotel Group.
The demolition is expected to take about four weeks, if the weather cooperates.
Demolition of the property will open the door for re-development, and the construction of two new hotels.
The first is expected to be a Home-2-Suites, with approximately 80 rooms, converting the abandoned property into a productive taxpaying property, contributing to the local economy.
Construction on the first hotel is expected to begin in the spring.
No word yet when work on the second hotel will get underway.
