Liverpool teacher among hundreds enrolled at del Lago Dealer school

SENECA COUNTY (WSYR-TV) - The new del Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County is looking to hire more than 1,000 people, many of them dealers, before it opens on Feb. 1.

Hundreds have enrolled in the casino's dealer school, just down the road from the construction site off the Waterloo Thruway exit.

One student is Valerie McIntyre, who plans to make the drive from Liverpool every day. She left her teaching career for a new job at the casino.

McIntyre said, "It's a lot of detail. It's very focused, you have to focus at all times. It's a lot of information to remember. It's a lot of practice at home."

Yes, there's even homework-- McIntyre practices shuffling, and her granddaughter helps her memorize flashcards with the pay out amounts.

Del Lago is still looking for dealers, food service workers and many other employees.

People interested can apply on the casino's website.
