Man pleads guilty to Sodus teen's murder

LYONS, NY (WROC) - David Knight-Hollis, the man accused of stabbing and killing a Sodus teen last year, has pleaded guilty.

Knight-Hollis entered the plea Friday morning. He has always waived his right to an appeal in a case

Deputies say Knight-Hollis lured 17-year-old Alyssa Taft to his home last November, in attempt to re-kindle their relationship. But, when she rejected him, deputies said Knight-Hollis stabbed her and then slit her throat.

Investigators say he later called 911 about the murder. When deputies responded to his home, they say they found him walking out of a wooded area and then found Taft's body not far away.

Taft was a senior at Sodus High School. In court, her mother Sarah made a tearful statement, calling Alyssa her "Mother's Day gift." She then turned to Knight-Hollis and told him, "Our hopes and dreams were taken away by your selfish act."

Knight-Hollis now faces a minimum of 20 years to life behind bars.
