Meet the two candidates looking to become the next Madison County Sheriff

WSYR-TV - Six months ago, John Ball and Todd Hood didn’t even consider wearing the Madison County Sheriff’s Badge.

The job wasn’t open and it looked like Sheriff Allen Riley wound run, maybe unopposed.

Then, Riley was appointed to New York State’s Commissioner of Corrections. His Undersheriff, John Ball, became Acting Sheriff and jumped into the election as the incumbent.

Todd Hood also jumped into the election as a challenger. Hood is an investigator with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, after retiring from a 22-year-career as a Syracuse Police Officer.
