Mexico Elementary students give back to local food pantry

MEXICO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Students at Mexico Elementary School collected food and money donations for Mexico's local food pantry.

Throughout one week, students were able to collect enough food to fill 177 grocery bags. They also raised $361.

Fifty-five fourth graders too two separate trips to Mexico's food pantry,  St. Anne Mother of Mary Catholic Church to deliver their donations.

Once they delivered the donations, they sat down for some snacks with the director of the food pantry, Martha Sturtz, who explained to  the students how the food pantry works.

Families in the Mexico school district can visit the food pantry on Mondays 1-3 and Wednesday 5-7.
