Mild with rain this afternoon: Dave Longley and Kate Thornton's forecast

Above average temperatures continue today

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - • Steady rain today across CNY.
• Mild temps again today, highs in the lower 50s.
• Windy this afternoon. Wind SE 20-30 mph.
• Back to cooler weather for this weekend.

Winter takes a break in CNY this week.  No snowflakes around until the weekend.

Low pressure is moving towards us from the Deep South.  This storm is tracking north and east and it will mean occasional rain through the rest of the day.

Tonight, new rainfall of half an inch to an inch is possible. We could hear a little bit of thunder when the front passes us later tonight.

Winds will keep increasing out of the east-southeast this afternoon.  We should be looking at 10-20 mph winds this afternoon.

The wind will swing around to the southwest Thursday and northwest Friday and will remain gusty at times.

Cooler air is poised to move into Central New York for the end of the week.

By Saturday and Sunday, high temperatures will be in the upper 30s.  Along with the cooler air, will come the chance for snow showers.  For higher elevations snow could be in the air as early as Friday and for the rest of us that chance of snow will wait until the weekend.

In spite of the change to cooler weather for the weekend, we won’t be too far where we should be temperature-wise for early December.
