SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Monster Jam is returning to the Carrier Dome, and tickets are going fast for one of Syracuse’s most unique entertainment events of the year.
Dump trucks invaded the Dome on Monday, piling dirt on all of the 87,000 square feet of floor, which is normally green turf.
Nearly 32,000 tickets have been sold, and there’s only a few thousand left before the show sells out.
This is the seventh time that Monster Jam will be held in the Carrier Dome.
"Well it's a show first of all, this is entertainment, these guys do a great job of entertaining the fans and the engagement, so the pit party on Saturday being able to come down and get close to the trucks,” said managing director Pete Sala.
This year, the crew from Feld Motorsports is setting up a course for speed so fans, so 14 monster trucks will be rocketing around the dome.
“Then obviously with the freestyle we're going to build a really big backflip area this year which I’m really excited about. I was trying to secure some equipment to pull that off, so that'll be kinda cool,” Sala said.
One of the nice things about the show being a month later is that the dirt they're bringing in here is in good shape to lay down the course.
With such a huge crowd expected, Sala strongly suggests you arrive early so you don't miss one minute of the show.
Unless you've already purchased a parking pass, you'll need to park in the lots at Skytop on SU’s South Campus and take shuttle buses to the Dome. Doors will open as early as 2 p.m. on Saturday for the pit party.
Showtime for Monster Jam is at 7 p.m. Saturday.
