More locals come forward with complaints about Holbrook's Tree Services: Your Stories

WSYR-TV - Once Mark Somers and Farah Tengra shared their stories with NewsChannel 9, more complaints about Holbrook arrived on the Your Stories lines.

Worried about falling limbs, Lucien LeFebvre says he gave Mark Holbrook a $1,600 deposit to cut down six trees and trim four more.

"He trimmed the tree right up to the top and just let it stand there, with the rope on it," LeFebvre explains. "So, I said, well, I don't think he is going to come back."

LeFebvre says Holbrook did come back at one point-- to ask for another $800. Then....

"...Never answered the phone, so I said....I'm dead. He scammed me," LeFebvre adds.

His story is no surprise to Carrie Dunn. She says Holbrook never finished a job for her after a down payment of more than $3,000.

"I tried contacting him multiple, multiple times...text messages, phone calls, hardly ever got a response. When I did, it was always excuses," Dunn recalls.

She says one of their final exchanges came in October, months after he was hired.

"I texted him and said, 'The court has ordered that you pay me back all the money you owe me. When would you like to set up a time to do this?'" she states, reading a message on her phone. "He stated, 'Hahaha, you're not getting a dime you crazy b----...Don't ever contact me again.'"

Over the phone, Holbrook did say he fell behind on some work.

"It's pretty detailed what I've got going on in my personal life that is causing some of these issues with my business," he said, but added that he didn't want to discuss details over the phone.

Holbrook says he wants to give his side of the story, but has refused to talk on camera where his exact comments can be recorded and documented.

While Holbrook expressed concern about being overwhelmed as a small business owner, Dunn and LeFebvre say they're overwhelmed now too.

"I'm a single mom and I took that money off a credit card, which I am still paying," Dunn says.

"It is a big impact. I'm retired. So, well, it's a lesson learned," LeFebvre adds.
