Motorcyclists ride to 'Stop the Stigma' of addiction

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Recent spikes in overdoses and drug-related deaths have pushed local activists to get out on the road.

You may have seen, or heard, them riding from Destiny USA to Oneida Lake to the Mattydale VFW. The riders were not  just out enjoying the nice weather, but also to send a message. It's the first annual ride to "Stop the Stigma" of drug addiction.

"I don't know why people choose what they choose. It's just got to come to an end. There's way too many losses of young kids, old kids. Maybe it's that they do know anyone cares about them, or they don't realize how strong these drugs are these days," said Michael Lazafame, the organizer of Stop the Stigma.

Organizers worked with the Prevention Network and encourage people who are struggling to ask for help.
