Motown legend Smokey Robinson set to play at the State Fair

GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Smokey Robinson will perform at the Great New York State Fair for first time this summer.   He's scheduled on the Chevy Court stage for 8 p.m. on Monday, August 27. The show will happen on the first of two Senior Days at the fair, when people aged 60 and over get free admission.

Robinson is best known for hits like "The Tears Of A Clown" and "You've Really Got a Hold on Me".  In all, Robinson racked up 26 top 40 hits with the Miracles between 1960 and 1970.

Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner says the Grammy award winning singer will bring a lot of star power to the State Fair.

"We are thrilled to welcome an artist of the stature of Smokey Robinson to the Chevy Court stage."  Waffner said, "It will be an unforgettable night of some of the greatest soul music ever."
