SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Sunday marked the 26th Annual Ms. Orange Fan Luncheon, a fundraiser that brings together the Syracuse University men's basketball team and some of their biggest fans.
Over the years, the event has raised over one million dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Central New York.
Everyone at the event met with players and coaches.
The money helps the charity grant wishes for kids living with life-threatening medical conditions.
"We're finding wishes really matter. They are not just a nice thing to do, they are absolutely a necessary thing to do so that we can change their outcome quite possibly. The power of hope and the belief of a positive mental attitude does extraordinary things for sick kids, and wishes bring that hope to life and give them a reason to keep dreaming about the future," said Diane Kupperman, the charity's local branch president.
Kuppermann anticipates the 2017 event raised over $100,000.
