Multiple crews are responding to a residential fire in Manlius

MANLIUS (WSYR-TV) - According to Onondaga 911 Dispatch, a call came in just before noon Sunday reporting a residential fire on Watervale Rd. in Manlius.

NewsChannel 9 is on scene as the fire is still not under control around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Red Cross, Sheriff's Department as well as multiple Fire Departments including Manlius, Minoa and Pompey Hill are all on scene.

Manlius Fire Department tell us that one home, set far back from the road is on fire. The area doesn't have any fire hydrants so water is being transported in by many tankers.

Power has been cut off to the residence.

The family was not inside the home when the fire broke out, but two dogs were. Firefighters were able to rescue one of the dogs, the other died in the fire.

The Manlius Fire Chief says it is clear the fire started in the basement of the home, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
