Multiple departments respond to fire in the Town of Cicero

TOWN OF CICERO (WSYR-TV) - Crews from multiple fire departments were called to a fire at Rogers Auto Sales on Brewerton Road in the town of Cicero Sunday night.

Investigators say the fire started inside a warehouse around 6:38 p.m.

Firefighters weren't able to enter the building and had to fight the fire from the outside because of intense smoke and heat.

The Deputy Chief tells us a power line hanging over the metal warehouse also played a factor and could have dropped and electrified the building, putting the firefighters at risk.

It took 20 minutes just to get the fire under control.

"It took about another 35 minutes to really get it extinguished. The large structure, the volume of smoke and fire and struggling to hit it from outside delayed that," said Deputy Chief George Barrett of the for the Cicero Fire Department.

Crews spent an hour in total fighting the fire.

Five fire departments, including Cicero, North Syracuse, Moyers Corners, Clay and Mattydale all responded to the call.

No word yet on a cause, but fire investigators are focusing on the front right corner of the building, looking for a cause.
