Syracuse, NY (WSYR-TV) - As mothers were celebrated across the country, a few families at Crouse Hospital enjoyed Mother's Day for the first time with their new babies this weekend.
Little Chloe Wiegand was born Saturday morning.
"You know you just wait and you wait for the day and it's finally here," said Christina Wiegand, "Her due date was the 24th, so she's a little early, but a perfect Mother's Day gift."
Chloe's birth brought the Wiegand family from three to four.
"For the first one, for our son, Danny-- we were totally shocked and excited. And then for our Chloe we were just amazed and just felt so lucky," said Wiegand.
Wiegand says having a child wasn't always so certain.
"I am a cancer survivor of leukemia and years ago I was actually told that having children could happen but it was a 20 percent chance," said Wiegand, "It's first discouraging to hear something so devastating like that."
She says her two beautiful children are two beautiful blessings.
"A mother wakes up and the first thing that she thinks of is her children, children are the world and every child is a blessing," said Wiegand.
There were ten babies born Saturday at Crouse Hospital, including little Chloe, and as of 11 p.m. on Mother's Day, another six children had been born.
