No toxins detected in City of Auburn's water supply

AUBURN, NY (WSYR-TV) - New tests of the City of Auburn's water supply revealed low toxin levels found Friday are no longer present.

The Cayuga County Health Department says samples taken Saturday morning from Owasco Lake were analyzed and are nondetectable for toxins associated with blue-green algae.

On Friday levels below the EPA's Health Advisory of 0.3 micrograms per liter were detected.

Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Auburn activated its carbon treatment system to prevent the toxins from getting into treated drinking water.

Drinking water from the City of Auburn and the Town of Owasco remains safe to drink.

If you have any questions you can call the Cayuga County Health Department at (315) 253-1560.
