North Rose Wolcott student arrested for having a hunting shotgun on campus

WOLCOTT (WSYR-TV) - Wayne County Sheriff's deputies have arrested 18-year-old Kyle Slyter of the Village of Wolcott.

Officials say the School Resource Officer received information that a student at the North Rose Wolcott High School was overheard talking about hunting and having “something” in his vehicle.  They later discovered that Slyter had a shotgun and ammunition in his vehicle for hunting purposes.

The firearm and ammunition were recovered and secured by the officer.

Law enforcement says the incident is not connected to a threat in any way.

Slyter is charged with criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Slyter was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Rose Court at a later date.
