Oswego Fire Department rushes to help critical patient on Lake Ontario

OSWEGO (WSYR-TV) - Oswego firefighters rushed on to Lake Ontario for a medical call to help a person who was not breathing and in cardiac arrest while on a fishing boat last night.

According to the department's Facbeook page, the Marine One crew got on the fishing boat about a half-mile outside the breakwall.

Emergency personnel boarded the fishing boat and performed CPR, delivered multiple shocks, and were able to obtain a pulse on the patient before transferring care to an ambulance on shore.

Firefighters were assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Oswego County Sheriff's Office, Menter Ambulance and the Oswego Police Department.

Officials have reported that the patient has been transferred to a Syracuse hospital for cardiac care.

The Oswego Fire Departmnet also extended thanks to witnesses on the fishing boat who performed CPR prior to their arrival.
