Owner of Fright Nights: 'Buyer Beware' fake tickets being sold online

TOWN OF GEDDES (WSYR-TV) - A local Halloween tradition is the target of scammers this year, fooling families in to ordering fake tickets.

That's according to the operator of Fright Nights, Graziano Zazzara. He tells NewsChannel 9 dozens of people were showing up at the fairgrounds with fake tickets that looked almost identical to real ones.

Zazzara said he first noticed a problem on a random Facebook page where Fright Nights tickets were listed for sale.

He was suspicious right away because the only place you can get real tickets is at the event on the fairgrounds.

Following that, he said more ticket offers popped up on Craigslist.

"My manager called me actually. It was 2 a.m. this morning and said 'I've been looking at Facebook, I've been looking at Craigslist, why are our tickets for sale?' I mean you could buy 10, you could buy 100, you could buy 1,000 (fake) tickets" said Zazzara. "So, somebody got our tickets and was duplicating them. They don't work. So we've got rid of all of our (original) tickets now we've got different tickets you can only buy them here"

We're told the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office is investigating. For now, the managers remind people not to buy any tickets they find online.
