ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - An attempted murder plot targeting a Rochester City School District student has been averted -- thanks to a Pennsylvania corrections officer.
Police say an officer at the Allenwood Correctional Facility was doing routine monitoring of inmate phone calls.
The officer heard two calls where an inmate was discussing a possible hit on a RCSD student.
Another investigator determined the inmate was trying to stop a hit on a student.
Rochester police were notified and responded to Rochester International Academy on the Jefferson Campus on April 5. The school was placed on lockdown.
Police found a handgun under a dumpster on school grounds -- right where the inmate said it would be.
No one has been charged in connection with the weapon.
