Baldwinsville CSD: No threat was made against the high school 2 weeks ago

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - After extensive interviews, the Baldwinsville Central School District has determined that there is no evidence that a threat was made against Baker High School two weeks ago.

On March 4, superintendent Matthew McDonald sent out a voicemail to parents indicating that they were made aware of a threat against the school that had been made two weeks ago.

The alleged “threat” was brought to the attention of Baldwinsville Police on March 3.

However, there is no evidence that a threat was made.

The rumors were spread through misinformation on social media, the district said.

The school district issued the following statement:
In a follow-up to the district’s communication to its families yesterday evening (March 4, 2018), the Baldwinsville Police Department continues to investigate a report of an alleged student threat made approximately two (2) weeks ago.

After extensive interviews there is no evidence that a threat was made. In an abundance of caution, the Baldwinsville Police Department is leaving the investigation open pending new information. There is considerable misinformation about this issue on social media and the internet. Unfortunately, there is little we can do to control this type of misinformation. Rest assured that official communications from the district and the Baldwinsville Police Department will provide accurate information in a timely manner.

The district and the Baldwinsville Police Department continue to be vigilant.

The district would like to remind all students and families that if you are witness to inappropriate behaviors or speech you should immediately report said behavior or speech to school administrators and law enforcement.

The district cannot stress enough that the safety and security of our children are at the forefront of everything we do, and we encourage anyone with concerns to reach out to Superintendent Matthew McDonald, Baldwinsville Chief of Police Michael Lefancheck, or another staff member directly.
