Post Office expands hours this weekend ahead of the holiday rush

Hours are added at select locations across Central New York

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - The United States Postal Service is expanding hours at select locations for the weekend in preparation for the busy holiday rush.

Monday, December 19 is expected to be the busiest mailing day of the season.

A spokeswoman predicts workers will process about 611 million letters, cards and packages across the country.

Also, this year, the USPS website is preparing for roughly 7-million site visits as people track delivery information.

In Central New York, hours are as follows on Saturday, December 17:

Syracuse, Teall Ave.:  8:30 am - 5 pm
Syracuse, Franklin Square: 9 am - 5 pm
Onondaga: 9 am - 4 pm
Solvay: 8:30 am - 5 pm
Dewitt: 8 am - 4 pm
New Hartford: 9 am - 3 pm
Rome: 8 am - 3:30 pm

Services will also be provided on Sunday, December 11 and Sunday, December 18 as follows:

Syracuse, Teall Ave.: 9 am - 2 pm, Package Pickup Only
Syracuse, Franklin Square: 10 am - 2 pm, Package Pickup Only
Rome: 10 am - noon, Package Pickup Only
