Renderings show what Syracuse Hancock International Airport will look like next year

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo was in Central New York Tuesday to ceremoniously make the first dig in the renovation project at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

The $50 million project will include improvements to the outdoor facade and indoor terminal.

There's a strict deadline on the project - October 2018.

Since September, the main terminal road has been closed as the canopy over the entrance came down. That road will reopen for the holiday travel season, in November and December.

In January, the front road will close again, as will the grand hall lobby, as the main construction gets underway.
