AUBURN (WSYR-TV) - Congressman John Katko (R-24) said he will hold forum-style town hall events approximately every four to six weeks with the goal to do eight or more during his second term.
Katko was promoting efforts to secure additional funding to improve Central New York's water infrastructure in Auburn when he made the comments.
"I think it’s deceptive to say that I’ve not been doing them," Katko told NewsChannel 9.
Katko held a forum on heroin in Oswego in late March. Participants at that event were also able to submit written questions on other topics at the event.
"Every single person on every single topic got their question answered," Katko said about the forum.
None of Katko's events this year have been the broad-based, open town halls similar to what many of his colleagues have hosted across the country.
He has held Facebook Live sessions and telephone town halls in addition to small group meetings with various constituents.
