Rideouts receive maximum sentences

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - The estranged wife of Craig Rideout and two of their sons received maximum sentences Friday for their involvement in his murder in July 2016.

Laura Rideout was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the second-degree murder charge, 15 years for the burglary charge, and one and one third to four years for tampering with evidence. 

Colin Rideout was also sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for second-degree murder and up to eight years for tampering with evidence. 

Alex Rideout will spend one and one third to four years in prison for each of the two counts of tampering with evidence. 

All sentences will run consecutively. 

In July 2016, Craig was killed in the basement of his home. His body was later found, wrapped in a tarp and disfigured by acid, in Yates County.
