Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio released from jail

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Judge Leticia Astacio walked out of Monroe County Jail Thursday morning just before 6:30 a.m.

She left through the side door and got into the passenger side of a vehicle which was waiting for her. She did not say anything to the News 8 crew waiting outside.

Judge Stephen Aronson sentenced Astacio to 60 days in jail, with time served. She will also wear an ankle monitoring device for several months and be on probation for 3 years.

The sentence was handed down after Astacio violated the terms of her 2016 D.W.I conviction.

After the sentencing, Judge Astacio's attorney told Judge Aronson she would violate the terms of her parole because she wanted straight time to "put it all behind her". Astacio's daughter also caused a commotion in the courtroom after the sentencing, cursing Judge Aronson during an emotional outburst.

Judge Astacio is still an elected judge and receiving her salary of around $175,000 per year. The Commission on Judicial Conduct, which has the power to remove her, has not made any decision on her future status.
