DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The most familiar face in Central New York television will return to NewsChannel 9 on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Celebrated anchor Rod Wood is returning to the news desk after recovering from a procedure to treat an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
In a recent interview with his longtime co-anchor, Carrie Lazarus, Rod described the ordeal.
“I had this cough that just wouldn't give up. I went to the doctor, he gave me some medicine and it didn't clear it up. I went back, he gave me another medicine and it didn't clear it up... went back a third time he said 'wait a minute, I’m going to scan you.' So they took a scan of my lungs and my throat couldn't find anything. He said 'I want to take another scan' so they went lower and he said, 'here’s your problem. It's an aneurysm of your abdominal aorta,'” Wood said.
