UPDATE: Hikers in the Adirondacks found alive

LAKE PLACID, NY (WSYR-TV) - DEC Forest Rangers with the help of New York State Police Aviation units located 20-year-old Blake Alois and 19-year-old Madison Popolizio, both of Schenectady County. The hikers were found alive on Algonquin Mountain Tuesday morning. Rangers are working to evacuate the victims from the mountain. 

The search for Alois and Popolizio began on Sunday when the DEC received a phone call from concerned family members   saying they had not received any communication from the hikers since noon Sunday.   .

Monday, DEC Forest Rangers located the pair’s vehicle and began searching the trails to Algonquin Mountain and to Lake Colden.

Searchers faced below freezing temperatures, wind chills below zero, and three feet or more of snow.
