Several homes in Sylvan Beach evacuated due to flooding

Flooding concerns near a mobile home park

SYLVAN BEACH (WSYR-TV) - The Sylvan Beach Fire Chief says several families were evacuated from their homes early Saturday morning because of rising flood waters.

The rescues began around 3:00 a.m.  Neighbors in area of Willow Drive, Waterview Drive and Haskins Road were brought to the Vienna United Methodist Church, Sylvan Beach Fire Department and Sylvan Beach Village Hall.

The Red Cross crews are on their way to Oneida County to help neighbors at the church, firehouse and village hall. 

At around 10 a.m., about 16 people were using temporary shelters.
