Snow showers ease overnight: Dave Longley & Jim Teske's Forecast

New snow moves in Tuesday afternoon

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - -Snow showers ease tonight
-Widespread snow moves back in tomorrow afternoon. A coating to a couple inches.
-Bitter cold and chances for lake effect snow late in the week.
-Lake effect snow watches up east of Lake Ontario Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night.

Snow showers ease overnight over central New York.  After midnight the snow showers will be confined to areas east of Lake Ontario.  There could be a light accumulation of snow over the Tug Hill.

Tuesday starts dry but a weak weather system heading our way from the western Great Lakes will spread an area of light snow our way starting tomorrow afternoon continuing into Tuesday night.  We expect snow accumulations of a couple inches or less for most..

End of week cold blast:

Following Tuesday’s snow another arctic cold front is forecast to arrive. The front will knock our temperatures down to the 20s and teens for the last half of the week. Single digits overnight are likely too. But it’s the wind chill that will be brutal. We’ll feel more like 0-10° during the day, and below freezing at night. Brrr.

While we will all experience the cold, for some of us heavy lake effect snow will be an additional headache.  Currently, the counties east of Lake Ontario are likely to bear the brunt of the heaviest snows. A  Lake Effect Snow Watch will be effect for Lewis, Oswego, and Jefferson Counties starting Wednesday afternoon and continuing through Thursday night.  Up near the Tug Hill they will likely measure snow in feet before it is all said and done.

Temperatures will temporarily moderate over the weekend.  As we try to warm, moisture will return and there could be a wintry mix of precipitation on Saturday.
