SRC hiring 50 engineers plus support staff as company grows

Majority of jobs will be added to North Syracuse headquarters

NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - SRC Inc. in North Syracuse is looking to hire 50 engineers as soon as possible to keep up with the company’s tremendous growth.

The company is also looking to hire several people in support roles.

Part of the growth is the recent announcement that SRC has been awarded a $65 million contract with the Army.

Company officials say the need for new employees stretches well beyond just one contract, which mostly come from the Federal Government.

Jim Holland is the Executive Vice President of Enterprise Services for SRC and oversees much of the hiring within the company.

Holland tells NewsChannel 9 "Well there's changes going on with our war fighters, there's new threats and the Department of Defense wants to get out there and make sure our war fighters are as safe as possible and we've been investing in technology over the last few years that makes that possible."

Holland says what will help SRC attract engineers is that most are interested in working at places where they can solve very, very difficult problems, just like what SRC is doing right now.

He says the addition of so many people with good paying jobs helps the entire community.

"It means these folks are going to live in the area, their kids are going to go to these schools, and they’re going to pay their taxes locally, support local shops."  Holland says.

The main campus off Northern Boulevard already has a few buildings on it but with an expected growth of about 30 percent the next few years the company's already thinking about what it'll need to build to house everything.

Holland says, "When we get larger we show we have more capabilities whether its manufacturing technology or whether it’s engineering capabilities, all of those things help us get new contracts."
