St. Joseph's Health donates 800 backpacks to students

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - More than 800 backpacks were given to children for the upcoming school year.

The backpacks were filled with notebooks, pens, pencils, paper and more for elementary school students who have had to spend time in St. Joseph's Hospital.

“We saw a need for it and wanted to prepare them to go back to school in September with supplies, backpacks. A lot of times, the backpacks and supplies can really add up for families and this was a way for us to give back and look at our students and look at our families to go back to school ready,” said Colleen Prossner, president at Auxiliary of St. Joseph’s Health.

Volunteers and members of the Saint Joseph’s Auxiliary collected the supplies and helped hand out the backpacks.
